The Hills Run Red with a whole new level of horror as the terrified interlopers confront a demented killer who covers his! hacked-up face with a babydoll mask. Wait, Babyface is just a character from the movie, right? Wrong. He’s alive. He’s waiting. He’s thrilled to meet fans who will die â€" slowly, gruesomely, shockingly â€" for his art. Roll camera!There was once a film so terrifying, so incredibly scary, that it only briefly played theaters and was immediately suppressed. And possibly destroyed. Never heard of it? That's because this urban-legend mystery exists in director Dave Parker's The Hills Run Red, a clever little number about a group of young cineastes on the trail of the aforementioned movie. Would-be filmmaker Tyler (Tad Hilgenbrinck) finds a stripper named Alexa (Sophie Monk), who just happens to be the daughter of the mysterious director of the legendary lost film; Tyler drags two other friends (Janet Montgomery, Alex Wyndham) into the woods to research the location shooting of that fabled project. Since these characters are all hip in a post-Scream way to ! the dangers of young people going off into the woods, there's ! plenty o f self-conscious humor about horror-movie clichés. Sure enough, once they leave civilization, the inbred weirdos and secret hiding places and gothically bizarre torture implements begin to crop up. The movie gets points for being clever, and there's at least one great plot-shifting moment (it involves the word fetch); but once the blood starts running, a familiar series of lacerations and punctures fills in for character development. Veteran character actor William Sadler runs a few variations on the classic bad guy, and Parker introduces a mask-wearing, knife-wielding killer who's clearly meant to join the ranks of Jason and Pinhead and other slasher icons. Call him… Babyface! In other words, not terrible for a direct-to-DVD offering from the Dark Castle company, but not great. The Babyface sequel can't be far off. --Robert Horton

Brooke: Ooooh, good one! Well, the first time I posed naked was terrifying, and there haven't been many. But being emotionally vulnerable is harder. People are always ready to judge and criticize, and The Naked Mom reveals parts of me that no one has seen before. I do what I do because I truly believe there is a LOT to learn from sharing with each other, woman to woman. I know that other moms are going through the same things I am, and I am not afraid to admit my most difficult moments and flaws.

Teresa: Which DWTS judge would you like to see naked? And which judge would most appreciate a great read?

Frankie's miraculous bleeding comes to the attention of the Vatican's top investigator, Father Kiernan (Byrne). But when Cardinal Houseman (Pryce), discovers that Frankie is actually channeling an extraordinary and provocative message that could destroy the Church, he's convinced that she - and the force possessing hermust be forever silenced. Determined to stop this deadly conspiracy, Kiernan risks his faithandhis lifeto save her and the message that will change the destiny of mankind forever!Gabriel Byrne plays Father Kiernan, a young Jesuit priest whose degree in chemistry makes him a sort of priest/detective as he investigates weeping Marys and the like around the world. Meanwhile, Frankie (Patricia Arquette), a rave-generation Pittsburgher, is afflicted with th! e stigmata--holes that appear in her wrists, resembling the wo! unds of Christ. The young woman's symptoms filter back to the Vatican and Father Kiernan is assigned to the case. The priest is puzzled by Frankie's atheism; usually the stigmata only appear on the devout (hence the age-old controversy of miracles vs. hysteria). Other manifestations appear on Frankie, and the priest's cardinal (Jonathan Pryce) is brought in, leading to political maneuvering within the Church hierarchy. The film owes a large and obvious debt to The Exorcist (at one point, Frankie's bed scoots across the room and she levitates into a crucifix position), but to term it an Exorcist rip-off would be to shortchange Stigmata. The premise and screenplay are more cerebral than in the l973 film, and the source of the phenomenon is coming from a completely different place.

Unfortunately, amid Stigmata's high-octane editing and slick technique, the chills of The Exorcist aren't there, giving the movie a sort of identity crisis: horror! movie or intellectual thriller? Several elements of the film challenge basic tenets of the Catholic faith, hence the brief furor that erupted at the time of the film's release; if nothing else, the internal workings of the Church are shown in a very unflattering light indeed. Byrne excels as the skeptical priest, as does Arquette as the tortured young woman. All told, Stigmata is a rather uneven effort, but one with a thought-provoking combination of theology and thrills served up in a thoroughly modern, stylish package.
